It’s uncommon to value Rights
Heroes don’t sacrifice, they fight
Upholding freedom is not sacrifice
It’s selfishness: Liberty’s the prize.
No, it is not sacrifice
Fighting for the top prize
No! Not duty, but integrity
When I fight for Liberty.
Perfect freedom or absolute slavery
Oh Liberty, proclaims Patrick Henry
I cherish Life. Myself. Me.
I desire to be free.
Risking one’s life, spurning chains
Not sacrifice, with glorious aim
Free to choose virtue: Reason
Sacred Honor in mighty action.
Your sons’ release, Abraham Clark
Renounce your signature! Rescind! Depart!
For Aaron, Thomas: make amends
Repudiate the Declaration of Independence!
Perfect freedom or absolute slavery
Oh Liberty, or cherished family
Giving up Freedom is sacrifice
Choose Liberty, say the Clarks!
George Washington’s uncommon ragtag army
Against an empire, unbeatably mighty
Great privations stretching to years
Sacrifice-free! Proud and fierce!
Perfect freedom or absolute slavery
Independence, says the brave revolutionary
Selfish greed for my integrity
When I fight for Liberty!

“Sacrifice” does not mean the rejection of the worthless, but of the precious. “Sacrifice” does not mean the rejection of the evil for the sake of the good, but of the good for the sake of the evil. “Sacrifice” is the surrender of that which you value in favor of that which you don’t.
--Ayn Rand
Glorifying sacrifice is evil because self-sacrifice is masochism and sanctioning it is sadism.

Obama calls for SACRIFICE. SACRIFICE-PROFITEERING is subhuman. Glorifying sacrifice is evil because self-sacrifice is masochism and sanctioning it is sadism.
Whereas, Thomas Jefferson declared, "The freedom and happiness of man... [are] the sole objects of all legitimate government."

If one values doing the right thing, it is NOT sacrifice to act on freedom-based policies.
Sacrifice is choosing a lower value over a higher one, or choosing a non-value over a value.
Patrick Henry and his kind value liberty over life. LTC Terry Lakin values truth and the Constitution over his liberty, salary, and pension...
Integrity, not sacrifice, drives people of mettle to fight for Liberty. I am of the I & ME kind. "I know not what course others may take; but as for ME, give ME liberty or give ME death!"

Sacrifice is giving up a higher value over a lesser one or a non-value.
The virtue involved in caring for loved ones and doing the right thing is integrity: you love, so you care; you think it is right, so you do it. Since I love my kids more than I love myself, since I value them above all else, going without something or working hard for them is NOT sacrifice.
When Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty, or give me death," he was not sacrificing himself. He was saying that he valued his liberty over his own life.
New Jersey Declaration of Independence Signer, Abraham Clark, was dragooned to renounce his signature. His two sons, officers in George Washington's army, were captured and TORTURED. The British said they would release them if Mr. Clark renounced the Declaration and his signature. He refused. Since he and his sons valued liberty above all else, it was not sacrifice.

How do you define sacrifice? Would you ask anyone to sacrifice? What do you think of sacrifice profiteers?
Jesus said love your neighbors as you love yourself. Sacrificing oneself is not loving oneself. Sacrificing others is not loving your neighbors.
I do not sacrifice nor will I ever ask anyone to sacrifice for me. Self-sacrifice is masochism ans sanctioning it is sadism.

What kind of vermin lusts to destroy self-esteem? The anti human, anti happiness. A Destroyer. The subhuman. http://www.rightspeak.net/2012/06/wellesley-high-school-commencement.html

I do not sacrifice nor will I ever ask anyone to sacrifice for me. Self-sacrifice is masochism and sanctioning it is sadism. I have stood up for freedom ALONE, with a sick spouse. I could not sacrifice my self-respect nor sacrifice freedom.

There are armed-forces sites that glorify sacrifice. So long as you do so, evil civilian as well as military leaders will sacrifice you.
Doing the right thing is not sacrifice: it is INTEGRITY. You think it is right, so you do it whatever the cost. Sacrifice is giving up a higher value over a lesser one, or giving up a value over a non-value. Sacrifice is masochism and sanctioning it is sadism.
Tyrants have raised sacrifice as the holy grail, and those with no self-esteem line up for self-immolation.
Thank you. May everyone realize, especially the military, that as it is evil to sacrifice others, it is also evil to sacrifice oneself.
The virtue involved in doing the right thing is INTEGRITY. You think it is good, so you do it no matter the cost. Sacrifice is giving up a higher value, e.g. freedom, in favor of a lesser one, e.g. wealth, or giving up a value, e.g. American soldier, over a non-value, e.g. citizens of an enemy country.
I've never seen a quote where the Founders spoke of sacrifice. The Declaration of Independence extols HAPPINESS! Sacrifice is used by tyrants as the holy grail. No man of self-esteem sacrifices himself or others.
"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us to tamely surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." -- Thomas Jefferson

As it is evil to sacrifice others, it is also evil to sacrifice oneself.
"Give me liberty or give me death!" If Patrick Henry chose his life over his liberty, that is sacrifice.
Patrick Henry mentioned ME three times: "As for ME, give ME liberty, or give ME death!"
I am of the I and ME kind.
Individualism is the opposite of otherism. Individual rights is the politics of Individualism.
"Put others first." EVIL.
My concretes are based on my fundamentals. They are integrated. My philosophy:
Metaphysics: Reality
Epistemology: Reason
Ethics: SELF-INTEREST, i.e. pursuit of MY OWN happiness
Politics: INDIVIDUAL rights
OTHERISM is evil.
Heroes do not sacrifice. They fight for what is right, no matter the cost. That is INTEGRITY.

Where there's no I, there's a zombie. I am selfish. I am of the I and ME kind: "I know not what course others will take. But as for ME, give ME liberty, or give ME death."
Selfless means no self: no self-esteem, no self-respect, no self-love.
The American Revolutionaries never talked of sacrifice. A sacrifice profiteer is evil.
Sanford chose happiness above all. That is love of self, and utmost honesty.
So long as soldiers glorify sacrifice, they will be sacrificed by civilian and military leaders, and by their countrymen.
Voluntary self-sacrifice is none of my business, but do not ever sacrifice for me. I don't want it. I do not accept it. I am NOT a SACRIFICE PROFITEER. I greatly appreciate benevolence, but I hold that sacrifice is evil. For what would you sacrifice your self-respect?
Sacrificing others is pure evil. The misguided who advocate sacrifice facilitate the sacrifice of others. Tyrants advocate self-sacrifice because it is much easier than conquest.

Doing the right thing, whatever the cost, is not sacrifice to those who value doing the right thing. Fighting for freedom, for those who value freedom over everything, even ones life, like Patrick Henry, is not sacrifice.

Not waterboarding the mastermind of 9-11 when there is compelling evidence he knows more 9-11 in the works is sacrifice.
Rules of Engagement where American soldiers are prevented from swiftly ending threats to America, and from defending themselves is sacrifice.
Evil.
So long as soldiers glorify sacrifice, they will be sacrificed by civilian and military leaders, and their countrymen.
Doing the right thing is integrity. Honor is self-esteem made visible through actions.

One who holds that there is something greater than oneself is unfit to protect Individual Liberty/Rights, unfit to protect the Declaration of Independence.
There is nothing greater than oneself. This is the principle of Individual Rights. When one fights for freedom, one fights for the freedom of every individual, including oneself and one's loved ones.
I have never seen a quote from the Founders about sacrifice. Sacrifice profiteering is evil. Sacrificing others is evil. Self-sacrifice is none of my business, but it is masochism, which only a sadist can condone. So long as soldiers glorify sacrifice, they will be sacrificed by civilian and military leaders, and by their countrymen.

Sacrifice profiteers have devised a strategy much better than the Aztec's. They do not have to force anyone to sacrifice. They just trumpet SELF-SACRIFICE as the HOLY GRAIL, and those with no self-esteem line up for self-immolation.

Doing what one thinks is right, no matter the cost, is integrity. One with integrity has self-esteem. Self-esteem is a pre-requisite to happiness.
